2025 Canada Summer Games
Canada Games has grown into Canada’s largest multi-sport event since its first event in 1967. The event is considered the pinnacle of inter-provincial/territorial sport programs and a springboard to National level programs. Every year that beach volleyball has been offered at the games, Ontario has finished on the podium.

2005 or later (20U as of December 31, 2025)
COMPETITION & TRAINING CAMP
July 16-July 21, 2025 – Calgary training camp leading into Calgary Open
Teams that have earned the opportunity to participate in NORCECA or FISU during the Calgary Open can arrange a different event to prepare for Canada Games with the Canada Games coach.
August 9 – August 16, 2025 - Canada Games
This year’s Canada Games will be held in St. John’s Newfoundland https://www.2025canadagames.ca/
Selected teams will engage in a planning process with the Canada Games coach to plan and coordinate team training and competition preparation leading into Canada Games.
Teams that do not already have a daily training environment (DTE) will have the opportunity to join the Fulltime Training Group as a part of the Targeted Support program
CANADA GAMES TEAM RECIEVES:
Coach support during preparation competition and training events leading into Canada games
Registration Fee to Calgary Open
Flight, ground transportation, and accommodation at Calgary training camp
Travel, accommodations, food, and coaching during Canada Games
Team Ontario competition uniform & Team Ontario Canada Games clothing package.
SELECTION & APPLICATION
2025 Canada Games team selection will be through an application process and in-person evaluation at select events.
It has been decided to design this year selection process in this manner due to the high number meaningful selection trials already taking place during the months of May/June. Choosing to select in this manner slightly lessens the potential load for those interested in trying out while still offering the opportunity to compete for the spot.
Evalaution through participatoin as a team at one of the following events: (Teams applying for CSG selection, must play together for evaluation at least one of the following events)
May 24-25 – FISU World University Trials or Adult/Youth Open
May 31-June 1 – Jr Pan Am Games Trials or Adult/Youth Open
May 30-June 1 – Team Ontario Selection Camp or Adult/Youth Open
June 7-8 – U21 WCH qualification trials or Adult/Youth Open
1 team per gender will be chosen to represent Ontario at Canada Summer Games, with a 2nd team identified as alternates.
Teams will be nominated by week of June 9, 2025
Application Fee per team: $50 plus HST per team.

$2000 plus HST per athlete
Subsidized fee for current Team Ontario Targeted Support & Next Gen National Team Athletes - $850 plus HST per athlete with flight responsibility of athletes.

CSG ONTARIO beach COACHES
Women’s Coach: Ben Kerkhoff
Ben Kerkhoff is a former Team Ontario Beach athlete, U21 World Championship competitor, and carded Team Canada Beach athlete. Indoors, he is a 3x OUA Champion, 2x OUA All-Star, and former team captain with the McMaster Marauders, bringing a strong background of high-level competition to his coaching. In 2024, Ben joined the Team Ontario Beach Full-Time Training Group as a coach and is now serving as Head Coach of Ontario’s Women’s Beach Volleyball Team for the 2025 Canada Games. He has also coached internationally at the U23 NORCECA Continental Championships as well as most recently at a high-performance training camp at the Spanish Youth National team training centre alongside top international coaches. Ben is currently the Assistant Coach for Western University’s Men’s Volleyball Team and has seven years of youth indoor coaching experience with Mountain Athletic Club and Forest City Volleyball Club. He is currently completing the Advanced Development Coach – Beach certification
Men’s Coach: Kelly McGuire
Kelly served as an Ontario summer games head coach in 2018 and has worked with team Ontario indoor and beach teams since 2018 and 2019 respectively. This included being a part of the Team Ontario Elite coaching staff in 2023. Kelly currently coaches indoor with the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves women's volleyball program in Grande Prairie Alberta after spending 6 seasons with the Conestoga Condors men's and women's varsity programs. Kelly was named OCAA women's volleyball coach of the year for the 2022-23 season. In 2023 Kelly was also a part of U21 FIVB Beach World Championship coaching staff supporting Team Ontario Targeted support athletes at and leading in to competition.
