Why coach with Team Ontario?
Team Ontario coaches play a key role in helping athletes grow within an aligned, athlete‑centred high‑performance pathway. We are looking to hire coaches who value collaboration, constant learning, practice design focused on quality, and creating environments where athletes take ownership of their development.

What We Expect From You
How you coach:
Design practices with clear and intentional objectives.
Align training with Team Ontario principles and the Conditions for Quality.
Teach with technical and tactical accuracy relative to developmental stage.
Set and support clear understanding of effort, behaviour, and preparation.
Foster athlete self-evaluation through purposeful inquiry.
Connect training habits to the values and choices athletes bring.
How you interact with people:
Communicate clearly and respectfully with athletes, staff, IST, and fellow coaches.
Uphold Safe Sport standards.
Contribute to a positive, accountable, and aligned environment.
Model collaboration, care, and self-evaluation in your daily coaching behaviours.
Work collaboratively across programs and disciplines.
How you grow:
Show openness to feedback, self‑evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Engage in professional development
Connect your coaching to the broader pathway (club → Team Ontario → Volleyball Canada).
Demonstrate year‑to‑year growth, particularly for returning coaches.
Engage in on going self evaluation to strengthen your clarity, intention, and impact.
What the Role ENTAILS
Attend full camp, preparation meetings, and the Coach Summit.
Deliver sessions aligned with Team Ontario principles and objectives.
Provide ongoing athlete feedback supporting self‑evaluation.
Complete onboarding requirements and Safe Sport compliance.
Work collaboratively within an aligned, multi‑discipline system.
Care and supervision of Team Ontario athletes for the duration of the camp- on court and off court.
Coach Eligibility
Coaches must meet the OVA’s 2025-2026 Coach Eligibility Policy by time of hiring.
Be NCCP certified or be actively pursuing NCCP certification
Alignment with Team Ontario coaching principles and expectations.
Available for key dates and PD opportunities
Submission of a self‑evaluation from previous year if returning coach
How We Select Coaches
We look for:
Demonstration of shared values as leaders.
Willingness to adopt a non-authoritative approach to coaching.
Priority of long-term athlete development over short-term outcomes.
Willingness for constant improvement of personal coaching effectiveness.
Willingness to work within an aligned system.
Openness to placements that meet program needs while also supporting their development as coaches.

Team Ontario Regional Program:
Coaches help athletes experience their first high-performance training environment by introducing both the beach and indoor disciplines and developing strong foundational skills across the game. Coaches support athletes in learning to self-evaluate their effort, engagement, and quality of work while fostering a positive and inclusive environment that supports their engagement and interest in future stages of the pathway.
- Positions available: 32 coaches -Tall Maples:
Coaches help tall athletes explore beach and indoor volleyball by exposing them to new skills, roles, and training standards they may not experience in their current environments. Coaches support athletes in learning to connect with their bodies and self-evaluate their engagement and intentions in training, fostering the habits and mindset that help them determine whether they want to pursue high-performance volleyball.
- Positions available: 8-10 coaches -Team Ontario White:
Coaches help athletes build the foundational skills, behaviours, and habits needed for long-term success by developing the person as well as the player. Coaches design training that exposes them to roles and experiences they may not get in their current environments.
- Positions available (Girls Program): 5 head coaches, 5 assistant coaches -
- Positions available (Boys Program): 4 head coaches, 4 assistant coaches -
Team Ontario Red:Coaches help athletes strengthen the skills and behaviours needed to handle increased training and performance demands by reinforcing preparation and recovery routines. Coaches teach the skill of performing under pressure, and guide decision-making in environments that require sustained focus over multiple days.

- Positions available (Boys Program): 1 head coach, 1-2 assistant coaches/support coaches -Team Ontario Black:
Coaches help athletes take full ownership of their preparation and decision-making by strengthening the habits required to perform on demand. Coaches introduce tactical concepts that connect to future international play, and support athletes learning to lead themselves into a peak highlight event.
- Positions available (Girls Program): 1 head coach, 1-2 assistant coaches/support coaches
Beach Programs:Coaches help athletes develop the skills and habits needed for high-performance beach volleyball within an environment aligned to future international expectations. Coaches support athletes in learning to self-evaluate their preparation, decision-making, and performance, while developing the relationship skills required to form and sustain effective partnerships.
- Positions available: 6-8 FTG coaches, 2-4 Camps coaches)Team Ontario Sitting:
Coaches work in a collaborative environment to coach strong foundational skills in sitting volleyball and grow participation in the sport. Coaching is aligned with the Sitting National Team programs.

In-Person Athlete Identification: coaches must be available for the program’s corresponding event of Ontario Championships to participate in Athlete Identification.
2026 Coach Summit: May 2-3, 2026
2026 Program Dates
Team Ontario Regional Program: July 26-August 2, 2026 (including training camp and Ontario Summer Games competition).
Team Ontario White: July 9-July 18, 2026
*In 2026, we will be selecting a Team Ontario White Boys All-Star Team to compete at the Canada Cup in Regina, Saskatchewan July 21-26. Two coaches will coach this team.
Team Ontario Red and Black: July 12-July 26, 2026 (including Canada Cup)
Tall Maples: June 28-July 3, 2026
Team Ontario Beach Camps Based: Super Camp - June 28-July 3, 2026, FIVB Montreal Elite Camp (4 days TBC)
Team Ontario Beach FTG: Super Camp - June 28-July 3, 2026, FIVB Montreal Elite Camp (4 days TBC), Daily Training 3/wk in Toronto, Beach Provincials, Beach Nationals
Team Ontario Sitting: March 6-8, 2026 and June 5-7, 2026.

Step 2: Spark Hire Virtual Interview Process
At the end of the online application, you will receive a video link to a coaching scenario, and a link to a virtual interview.
You are encouraged to take notes on the coaching scenario, as the virtual interview process will ask related questions.
Please note that the virtual interview process must be done all at once. Once you begin the process, there will not be the ability to save and return to it. Please set aside approximately 20 minutes to complete it.

Using AI tools removes your ability to demonstrate who you are and show your authentic work. We ask that you honour the integrity of the process and let your own thinking and creativity guide your application.

Team Ontario coaches are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in alignment with all OVA policies, including the Person in Authority Code of Conduct and the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS). Coaches serve as ambassadors of the OVA and are expected to model fairness, respect, and leadership in all interactions, on and off the court.
In the high-performance environment at Team Ontario coaches are expected to model the same preparation and recovery habits they promote in athletes. While we recognize that social connection is part of the coaching community, Team Ontario is not a place for late-night partying or substance use that could affect rest, judgment, or readiness.
Coaches are expected to uphold an optimal state of body and mind when coaching, supervising, and when attending to off-court responsibilities such as debriefing, planning, and preparing for practices or matches.
