Selection

The selection committee will place each athlete in the program that best matches their skill level, development potential, and current stage within the Team Ontario pathway. At the conclusion of the assessment process, athletes will be informed of the opportunities identified for them for the 2026 summer. Athletes who receive offers for both indoor and beach programs may accept one or both invitations based on their personal interests and development needs.

Selection is based on virtual video evaluation, physical testing results, and in-person identification and observation at Ontario Championships.

  • I’m playing up or down from my birth year age category, will I be assessed for that corresponding program?

Not initially. Athletes are assessed for the program that corresponds to their birth year first. From there, the Athlete Development Team and the selection committee may invite an athlete to an program above their birth year depending on current stage in their development, program needs and best fit for both the athlete and the program.

Is there an advantage if I submit my application earlier or wait until the deadline?

No, there is no difference in the way your Athlete Identification application is assessed based on the time you submit it. Applications are not reviewed until after the deadline of March 1, 2026.

Are videos from high school and/or US tournaments accepted?

Yes. Ideally, videos are from the current season. As long as the athlete is easily identifiable in the video (jersey number, jersey colour, etc), any game play footage is accepted.

Are under-age athletes allowed to apply for TORP if they play up on a team?

No. As the Team Ontario Regional Program is the first entry point into the Team Ontario pathway and due to the large number of applications received, athletes must meet the birth year requirement to be considered.

Can I update my highlight video once it’s been submitted?

No. Please be sure your video is ready and shows what you’d like to put forward for your application before you submit. You are unable to change your video link or edit your highlight video once it’s been submitted.
