year-round beach Training
Year-Round Beach Training Groups are designed to introduce and/or prepare athletes to high performance beach training through a full-time or beach/indoor integrated training environment. The objective of doing so is to better prepare athletes for future international success and an eventual transition to the National Team. Athletes training within the Year-Round Training Groups are provided the support of an integrated support team through monitored sport science services. The Year-Round Training Groups are the result of a partnership between the Ontario Volleyball Association, Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) and the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI)
In addition to ball training, athletes training in the Year-Round Training Groups have the support of an integrated support team through workshops and personal consults that include the following personnel:

YEAR-ROUND Training Group
The Year-Round training program services the 18-16U developmental level and is ideal for athletes who are interested in being exposed to the training and preparation needed for current of future U19 World Championship objectives. This program is directly funded by the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative Program (OHPSI).

PROGRAM DATES:
November 10, 2024 - May 16, 2025This pathway is for athletes who are ready to fully immerse themselves in high-performance beach training. Athletes who have committed to year-round full-time beach training. Athletes who have committed to year-round full-time beach training gain very noticeable improvements in their game. Technical-specific gains are directly contributed to the opportunity to train through a true off-season
Weekly training 4 days per week at Volleyball Canada’s Fulltime Training Centre at Downsview Park
- Wednesday 4:30-6:30
- Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm
- Fridays 5-7pm (Girls)
- Fridays 7-9pm (Boys)
- Sundays 9-11am (Girls)
- Sundays 11-1pm (Boys)
Monitored strength and conditioning program provided, including strength coach lead sessions 2 days per week
- Fridays 5:45-6:45pm (Boys)
- Fridays 7:15-8:15pm (Girls)
- Sundays 9:45-10:45am (Boys)
- Sundays 11:15-12:15pm (Girls)

Fulltime Beach Training: $2650 + HSTLOCATION:

PROGRAM DATES:

- March Break: Outdoor internatinal training camp opportunityThis pathway is for athletes looking to immerse themselves into monitored high-performance training through the healthy management of training and personal needs in both indoor and beach disciplines.
All programming decisions are made with the athlete in consideration of their indoor season
To be eligible for this option, athletes must have a minimum number of combined beach/indoor ball training hours (Eg. 2 beach training along with 2 indoor training days)
Athletes without a strength & conditioning program from their indoor club will receive a strength & conditioning program monitored by OVA’s Sport Science Lead for self-lead sessions
COST:
Integrated Beach Training: ($1800-2000+HST)
TRAINING SCHEDULE ON-COURT:
Athletes would attend an average of 2 beach on-court practices a week coordinated with their indoor practice schedule. Some weeks athletes may find they are only available to attend a single session and other weeks they may find themselves available to include an additional session.

2024 Team Ontario Beach Athletes:
- Fill out the application form
- Submit an intro video 30-60 seconds long explaining your motivation to take part in the Beach Year Round Integrated Training group, and what do you see as your contribution to the environment)
- Submit a movement video
- Must have completed their 2024 self-evaluation form
- Submit game play footage. Either a beach full game or highlight video. If you do not have any beach footage available, athletes can submit an indoor full game or highlight video.2024 Non-Team Ontario Beach Athletes:
- Fill out the application form
- Submit an intro video 30-60 seconds long explaining your motivation to take part in the Beach Year Round Integrated Training group, and what do you see as your contribution to the environment)
- Submit a movement video

There are limited spots to the year round beach programs; athletes receiving invites will be determined through the following guiding principles:
- demonstration of ability to produce a consistent hard driven attack with a downward trajectory from a high point of contact.
- athletes spike touch is at a height that demonstrates the capacity to learn to hit a hard driven ball with a
downward trajectory.
- demonstration of dynamic physical movements as part of the movement video.
- commitment/availability to attend two of the available beach traning days.
