year-round beach Training
IDENTIFICATION APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Year-Round Beach Training Groups are designed to introduce and/or prepare athletes to high performance beach training through a full-time or beach/indoor integrated training environment. The objective of doing so is to better prepare athletes for future international success and an eventual transition to the National Team. Athletes training within the Year-Round Training Groups are provided the support of an integrated support team through monitored sport science services. The Year-Round Training Groups are the result of a partnership between the Ontario Volleyball Association, Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) and the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI)
In addition to ball training, athletes training in the Year-Round Training Groups have the support of an integrated support team through workshops and personal consults that include the following personnel:
Strength & Conditioning Coach
Registered Dietician
Athletic Therapist
Medical Team
Team Ontario Beach Coach
The Year-Round training program services the 18-15U developmental level and is ideal for athletes who are interested in being exposed to the training and preparation needed for current of future U19 World Championship objectives. This program is directly funded by the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative Program (OHPSI).

October 5, 2025 - April 26, 2026This pathway is for athletes who are ready to fully immerse themselves in high-performance beach training. Athletes who have committed to year-round full-time beach training. Athletes who have committed to year-round full-time beach training gain very noticeable improvements in their game. Technical-specific gains are directly contributed to the opportunity to train through a true off-season.
Potential December outdoor international raining camp opportunity.
March Break: Outdoor internatinal training camp opportunity at a subsidized cost, as part of the program. Invitations based on stablished teams and/or competitive readiness.
Weekly training 4 days per week at Volleyball Canada’s Fulltime Training Centre at Downsview Park
- Tuesdays 4:30-6:30
- Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm
- Fridays 5-7pm (Girls)
- Fridays 7-9pm (Boys)
- Saturdays 9-11am (Girls)
- Saturdays 11-1pm (Boys)
(If Thursday becomes a more suitable training day, the schedule will shift to Wed/Thurs instead of Tues/Wed.)
Monitored strength and conditioning program provided, including strength coach lead sessions 3 days per week
- Tuesdays 7:00pm - 8:00pm
- Wednesdays 7:00pm - 8:00pm
- Saturdays 9:30am - 10:30am (Boys)
- Saturdays 11:30am - 12:30pm (Girls)

All programming decisions are made with the athlete in consideration of their indoor season
To be eligible for this option, athletes must have a minimum number of combined beach/indoor ball training hours (Eg. 2 beach training along with 2 indoor training days)
Athletes without a strength & conditioning program from their indoor club will receive a strength & conditioning program monitored by OVA’s Sport Science Lead for self-lead sessions

TRAINING SCHEDULE ON-COURT:
Athletes would attend an average of 2 beach on-court practices a week coordinated with their indoor practice schedule. Some weeks athletes may find they are only available to attend a single session and other weeks they may find themselves available to include an additional session.

There will be two new targeted program opportunities for the 2025-26 season. The intention of these programs is to bring athletes together in concentrated training blocks, providing opportunities for development and preparation without the full commitment of FTG or Integrated programs. Information posted soon.
Targeted TeamsThe objective of this program is to provide the opportunity for committed teams to stay connected to each other and beach off season preparation through dedicated training opportunities.
Targeted Tall Maples
The objective of this program will be to support Tall Maples athletes in building their foundations as volleyball athletes through strength and conditioning and Integrated Support Team services, while using beach training as a tool to reinforce skills that strengthen their overall development.
