2025 TEAM ONTARIO TEAMs FUNDING GRANT

The Team Ontario OHPSI Teams Funding Program provides financial support to identified teams that demonstrate the commitment to developing their relationship skills as an athlete through training in a single partnership for a whole season.   

In consultation with high performance leads of both the Ontario Volleyball Association and Volleyball Canada, it is recognized that the delivery of a dedicated team program as an effective approach to supporting the development of beach volleyball athletes along the Olympic pathway.

This program is supported and funded by the Canadian Sports Institute of Ontario (CSIO) through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative Program (OHPSI).

TEAM COMMITMENT

  • Teams must have the intentions to meet the mandate of OHPSI and are fully engaged in their respective Team Ontario training program.

  • Athletes are committed single partnerships for the season.

  • Teams are fully committed to a single training plan with Team Ontario and not already receiving any support/training in other environments (national team/club/personal support team)

  • With the support of a Team Ontario Teams coach, teams will engage in a planning process to create a developmentally appropriate season plan that includes out of province competitions.

  • Athletes on identified teams will sign an athlete agreement.

TRAINING & COMPETITION PLAN REQUIREMENTS

  • Unless competing at a NORCECA or FIVB event, the following events must be included into team plans:

  • 2025 Team Ontario Beach Targeted Support/Canada Games Teams must include:

    • Selection/Trials

      • May 24-25 - FISU World University Games trials (if appropriate)

      • May 30 - June 1, Jr Pan Am Games trials (if appropriate)

      • June 7-8 - U21 World Championship Qualification Trials (if appropriate)

      • July 5-6 - U18 World Championship Qualification Trials (if appropriate)

      • July 5-6 - NORCECA Open Trials

    • Competitions

      • August 15-17 - Nationals, Toronto (or Canada Games)

      • Sept 16-21 – U21 World Championships

      • Date TBC – U18 World Championships

      • Any nominated FIVB Future/U23/Sr NORCECA events

  • 2025 Team Ontario Beach Teams may also include:

    • Selection/Trials

      • June 7-8 - U21 World Championship Qualification Trials (if appropriate)

      • July 5-6 - U18 World Championship Qualification Trials (if appropriate)

    • Competitions

      • July 11-13 Vancouver Open/16U or July 19-20 Calgary Open/16U

      • Any nominated FIVB Future/U23/Sr NORCECA events

FUNDING SUPPORT

  • Teams who earn the opportunity to represent Canada at NORCECA &/or FIVB key events will have expenses for a Targeted Support team coach covered at select events to support the team internationally.

  • Teams committed to the requirements of their respective Team Ontario programs are eligible to receive financial support as per the table below:

    • Exact amount of funding eligible per team will be determined by the # and make up of teams selected.

    • Funds will be paid out to athletes upon submission of receipts and a report at the end of each eligible event, and self-evaluation form at the end of the program.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    • The program is looking to support 1-2 teams per gender; however, teams must meet the mandate of the OHPSI program to be eligible for Team Ontario Teams Funding support. There will not be a minimum # of teams chosen.
