Callout for members to join the OVA's Athlete Council

Attention all athletes!

The Ontario Volleyball Association has an exciting opportunity coming your way.

With the start of the new indoor season, The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) has an exciting opportunity coming your way. We are putting out a call for community leaders of all ages to join the OVA’s Athletes’ Council!

Formed in 2022, the OVA Athlete Council was established to help the Association better engage with athlete members and to amplify their voice on the Board of Directors with the Athlete Representative. The council is comprised of Ontario athletes from all backgrounds and experience - indoor, beach, sitting, Team Ontario, post-secondary, professional, and Team Canada.

As a member of the Athlete Council, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences, develop your leadership skills, represent your peers, and have a voice in Ontario volleyball.  Members will provide insight and input with respect to issues that impact athletes’ health, safety, and performance.

The mission of these collective voices is to support the OVA strategic objectives through an athlete lens.

We hope to see applications from OVA athletes that span across regions, clubs, age groups, disciplines, and programs.

Our Council Chair, Victoria Altomare, will encourage and facilitate exchanges of information and experiences about volleyball programs and initiatives through an athlete-centered lens.

The Council will:

  • act as an advisory body to the OVA Board of Directors and OVA management.

  • ensure that the Board and OVA management are receiving and implementing athlete feedback and ideas;

  • ensure effective sharing of information.

Applications can be submitted by completing the form below no later than  October 15, 2023, 11:59 PM.

Our first meeting of the year, "Athlete Council: Open Conversation Call" will take place over zoom on Sunday, October 22nd, at 7:30 PM.  To register for this call, members must submit their application to join the Athletes Council below.
