This past week, the Team Ontario Athlete Development Program successfully hosted a series of fundraising clinics across multiple locations throughout Ontario. Generously supported by volunteer coaches and enthusiastic athletes, the clinics delivered high-quality training experiences while raising over $6,500 in support of the Team Ontario Athlete Development Fund and ongoing programming.
The week began on Monday at The Athlete Institute, where all three courts were filled with energy and engagement. Coaches created a positive, high-performance environment, encouraging athletes through a dynamic and productive session. One athlete shared: "My time at the clinic was incredibly informative, as I acquired new skills and techniques, developed my ability to make quick touches and honed my capacity for fast-paced game play."
Families also played an important role in the atmosphere, with many parents staying to watch and support. As one parent noted: " For my daughter to spend time with such high level coaches who you can tell love the sport and want to see each child be the best they can be was my highlight".
On Tuesday, the Beach Hangar hosted six courts of athletes. The session focused on skill development that translates from beach to indoor play, with athletes participating in everything from extended rallies to competitive queen’s court games. Combined with a lively environment, participants left with valuable tools to elevate their indoor performance.
The clinics concluded Thursday at Conestoga College, where athletes were challenged with fast-paced drills emphasizing out-of-system attacking and back-row play. The intensity of the session pushed athletes to their limits while reinforcing key technical and tactical skills. One athlete reflected: " Drills were great. Explanations were fantastic. Lots of coach feedback given during drills."
Overall, the March Break Fundraising Clinics clinics were a strong success, bringing together athletes, coaches, and families in support of development and community. We would like to thank all of the athletes and families who supported these fundraising efforts and came out to the sessions!
